WIAW #7 and a Vlog!

Happy Humps Day!!! I am super excited this morning because I filmed a vlog for all of you about my 5 day slim down results! The video will be at the bottom of this post for those of you who just want to see my WIAW post. πŸ™‚ Basically this WIAW is what I did on the slim down. You guys get to see what a typical day was for me, then if you’re curious you can watch the video and see the results. Spoiler: I feel amazing!

Breakfast

For breakfast I had a slim down protein pancake topped with raspberries. Loved the addition of the raspberries. Normally I do blueberries or strawberries, but let me tell you those babies tasted amazing. I had another pancake this morning. I am now stuck in a protein pancake habit. Hope you all don’t mind. πŸ˜‰ I also have a bombshell spell every morning to kick up my metabolism and help my tummy digest better!

Mid-Morning Munch

I had an apple plus a chocolate Zico. I did manage to take a picture of the Zico haha. By the way, these are amazing! They have great nutritional stats and this one tastes like chocolate milk. I hate every other Zico flavor, but this one satisfies my chocolate craving and helps hydrate me after a sweat fest. I love LOVE it. It has like 680 mg of potassium, which is more than a banana. It has electrolytes to refuel after your workout. Simple carbs from the chocolate, so it’s awesome when paired with a protein after a workout to drive the protein into the muscles and is only 110 calories. Chump change for people who workout. πŸ™‚ I highly recommend it. It will definitely be with me through my half marathon training and during that actual half itself to keep me hydrated. Hydration is super important every single day! So drink up!

Lunch

Every day on the slim down I had chicken teriyaki collard wraps. I am obsessed with these. They taste soooooooo amazing and they are super awesome for you! They have a nice little vegetable kicker and a protein punch. What more could you ask for in a lunch?!

Afternoon Smoothie

The same smoothie recipe I posted the other day. My crack berry smoothie wonder. I am doing a vlog soon reviewing some of the protein powders and supplements I use if you guys are curious. I’ll talk about why I chose them and the taste. I hope that’s helpful, because sometimes I get questions on Twitter.

Dinner

For dinner I alternated between chicken with pineapple salsa and garlic shrimp! You guys get to see the garlic shrimp today, since it was my favorite. It was seriously so good! I put it over some quinoa to round out my meal with more protein! πŸ™‚ Starches are super limited on the slim down to help cut you down and feel less bloated so that’s why most of these meals are protein based. I didn’t even miss the starches to be honest. But I do have a review coming up in a few minutes on a new clean cracker I found with amazing nutritional stats. πŸ™‚

Late Night Snack

I had a bowl of blueberries and blackberries a couple hours after dinner when I got hungry. Sorry there was no picture, the lighting was awful!

Here’s my vlog on the results of my slim down! Let me know what you think! Or if you try it. My roommate and I are starting a group in a couple weeks of girls who are doing it again if you want to join let me know! πŸ™‚

WIAW #6, Week 1 Day 2

Happy Wednesday!

First I thought I would update you on my workout yesterday then get into the food. πŸ™‚ These are always my favorite posts to write because I think they hold me accountable. However, yesterday was my cheat day haha. So you get to see a deliciously unhealthy meal for dinner and dessert. πŸ˜‰

Yesterday I completed Week 1, Day 2 of the Couch to 5k program I am using. I have to admit, I love this program. It’s really nice and simple. Tells you when to run or walk so I can zone out. But what I love the most is that it eases you into running. I have yet to feel overwhelmed or anything. I am actually starting to enjoy running, which is something I never thought I would say. My roommate and I are already thinking about running some races this summer. Just 5k’s for fun. It’s good to experience what a race really feels like, I think. For weights yesterday, since we did a two a day, I completed the Legs workout from this day. My legs were on fire! I loved it.

Shall we move on to the food? πŸ˜‰

Breakfast

I started off my day with a protein pancake since I had to sit in class for almost two hours at 8 am. It is never my fine moment in the morning during that class haha. So I made a peanut butter protein pancake, topped it with the leftover honey cinnamon peanut butter, the rest of the sliced banana plus another banana, and some chia seeds. It was delicious. Plus, it filled me up until my amazing morning snack!

Mid Morning Munch

I haven’t had granola in far too long, so I introduced that back into my day with a small yogurt bowl. πŸ™‚ I combined some plain Oikos Greek yogurt with sliced strawberries and Love Grown Foods Sweet Cranberry Pecan granola. Heaven! I love that granola so much. πŸ™‚ I am going to attempt to make homemade chocolate granola soon, since I miss that granola that they sent me. If I can’t recreate it then I am just going to buy more haha.

Lunch

My roommate finally came back in time for lunch so we made two big salad beasts topped with chicken. Underneath the chicken was spinach, edamame, red bell pepper, grape tomatoes, and cucumbers. We topped our salads with balsamic vinegar, evoo, and some minced garlic. I also added some garlic gold to mine for a little extra garlicky crunch.

Mid Afternoon Snack

Before the gym we had a bowl of Cascadian Farms Chocolate O’s combined with Uncle Sam’s original with some unsweetened vanilla almond milk. It was delicious. Then we shared a Peanut Butter Pretzel Luna Bar before we hit the weight room. Overall, not such a balanced meal haha. It kind of looks like we were carb loading for no reason whatsoever.

Dinner

Welcome to where my cheat meal begins and ends! My roommate and I shared a small buffalo chicken calzone from the amazing pizza place down the street from our apartment. Seriously, those calzones are so good and we figured we needed to have one more before I graduate and we move to Massachusetts.

Before Dinner Dessert

Yes, this is out of order haha. But this is probably the order we should have eaten them in, but I am a believer in never denying yourself what you truly want first. So we had Shain’s of Maine Cookie Dough Ice Cream. This ice cream is literally the best ice cream I have ever had in my entire life. Plus, I think you can only find it in New Hampshire and Maine. She’s never had it so I told her it was an absolute must with the warm weather around the corner. This ice cream is basically a combo of the best cookie dough you have ever had with a side of the best vanilla ice cream you have ever had. I was building it up from the start, but trust me it’s the kind of thing that will never disappoint. She loved it! I recommend if you ever findΒ  yourself in this area you get the Cookie Dough or the Mint Oreo. Two of the best ice cream flavors on the planet from this company.

So that’s my WIAW cheat day! Not a lot of greens, but my salad beast made up for it, right? πŸ˜‰ I hope everyone has a good Wednesday! Workout post still to come! I am pretending to be my roommates personal trainer today since she missed Monday’s Push Workout and today is my rest day. πŸ™‚

WIAWW #3

Happy Humps Day!

I am really happy everyone is liking these posts! They are my favorite ones to do! It helps me stay on track by being completely honest about what I am eating with absolutely no judgment. Plus, I had a day full of delicious clean eats, which made my overly cheated stomach very happy about. πŸ™‚

Breakfast 7:00 a.m.

This was the best oatmeal I have had in forever. I am doing a review soon on Coach’s Oats and Love Grown Granola later on today, so keep an eye for that. But for breakfast I had a bowl of Coach’s Oats, which happen to be the best oatmeal ever, along with a serving of homemade honey cinnamon peanut butter, Love Grown Sweet Cranberry Pecan Granola, peanut butter chips (clean), sliced banana, and chia seeds. It was so amazingly delicious from all of those crazy good flavors together I couldn’t even stand it. Highly recommend everyone try this… Like yesterday. πŸ˜‰

Mid Morning Snack 10:00 a.m.

When I got back from class I was getting pretty hungry, which is no shock since I am always hungry every single three hours haha. It’s literally without fail. So I had a turkey meatloaf muffin (Recipe by Jamie Eason) and 12 raw almonds. Held me over quite well until lunch and was some serious good eats!

Lunch 1:30 p.m.

So I had to work today, which means my pictures are super stellar for you guys. I can’t wait till I actually get a camera and can start taking actual appetizing pictures of my meals. This whole iPhone camera can only get you so far. Sometimes my food looks really awkward. Like the turkey “balls” you see above. TWSS… Sorry. πŸ˜‰ So for lunch I had a salad beast as usual. I try to get as many veggies in as possible after a weekend full of cheating because my body feels deprived of nutrients haha. Today’s salad beast included low sodium deli turkey, spinach, grape tomatoes, red bell peppers, and cucumbers topped with balsamic vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, and some garlic gold. It was delicious! πŸ™‚ It filled me right up too since it was absolutely massive. I can pack away a lot of food apparently haha.

Mid Afternoon Snack 4:00 p.m.

For my snack on the way home from work I had 2 pumpkin protein bars (Recipe by Jamie Eason) and a couple handfuls of blueberries. I am really enjoying blueberries lately, they have been so tart and delicious. I have been eating insane amounts of them! One of my new favorite fruits apparently. Then again, I love all fruits. πŸ™‚

Dinner 6:30 p.m.

I got to have a quinoa bowl for dinner! It was so amazing. I love quinoa bowls so much especially when loaded with roasted vegetables prepped the night before, some chicken, and loads of nutritional yeast. It’s the bomb dot com people. Hop of the nutritional yeast bandwagon! It is the best invention ever. πŸ™‚

Roasted cauliflower and broccoli are the best. I have an obsession with roasted vegetables. They are so good.

Dessert 8:00 p.m.

So I got a little hankering for something sweet so I rummaged through my freezer to have a So Delicious Coconut Vanilla Ice Cream Sandwich. I love these little guys. They are such a perfect size and for only 90 calories they aren’t that bad. Of course once I start the Eat Clean Diet I will have to say good bye to them. But until then I am enjoying every last bite. πŸ˜‰

Stay tuned for another workout post and a review on the Granola and Oatmeal! Hope you guys enjoyed today’s post, these are so much fun to write.

My First WIAW

Happy Wednesday!

I wanted to try something new today! I see it on so many blogs and thought it would be a fun idea to incorporate into my blog. So this post is my first What I Ate Wednesday! Through the month of February WIAW’s are being focused on getting those veggies in! I am all for veggies all the time, hello salad beast anyone? So I decided to hop on the bandwagon. So let’s get this thing moving, shall we!

Breakfast 8:45 am:
Ooooh gosh was this good! We all know I love oatmeal. I literally eat it maybe 3-4 times a week. But this oatmeal was especially good! I found this recipe on Courtney’s blog, Sweet Tooth Sweet Life. It was epic. But then again, how can Peanut Butter & Banana French Toast Oatmeal not sound to die for, right? With a pack of protein, healthy fats, and whole grains my stomach was quite the happy camper. You can find her recipe here: http://www.sweettoothsweetlife.com/2012/02/11/peanut-butter-banana-french-toast-oatmeal/

I made the peanut butter a little less thick this morning so it would spread over my oatmeal better and leave the entire thing coated in peanut buttery goodness. So if you want to do the same just add a splash more almond milk. πŸ™‚

Mid-Morning Snack 10:00 am:
Oof so this stunk. I wen to try out my first green monster today with strawberries. Sadly, I am a huge texture person and could not get over the powdery taste. So unfortunately I will need to play around with that recipe some more before I show you guys. I chucked it, which killed me since I hate wasting food. So instead for a snack, I had another amazing Cara Cara orange with some almonds. Seriously guys those oranges are awesome… Where have they been my whole life?!

Lunch 1:00 pm:
Salad beast! Wasn’t I just talking about that?! πŸ˜‰ Haha, so as you all are familiar with I had my favorite salad beast today to get those veggies going even after my green monster. You can never have too many, right? I packed the salad with 2 cups of spinach, 1 cup of kale, 1 organic granny smith apple, 4 oz of chicken breast, 1/4 of a cucumber, and 2 tbsp Annie’s Lite Honey Mustard Vinaigrette. It was super delicious… But it always is so no surprise there.

Mid-Afternoon Snack 3:45 pm:
An individual pack of baby carrots and some bell peppers! I am really packing in the veggies. I guess I wasn’t totally aware when I was eating this yesterday haha. My body must be quite the happy camper. πŸ™‚

Dinner 6:15 pm:
4 oz turkey burger with a slice of Sargento natural cheese blend with mozzarella and cheddar. On top was a little dijon mustard. πŸ™‚ On the side I had homemade sweet potato fries. I cut up one medium sweet potato topped with nonstick cooking spray, some cinnamon and a little brown sugar with some salt. Broiled those babies for about 15 minutes and they were delicious little fries of goodness! I was going to have a different side, but once I saw the sweet potato I couldn’t resist fries with my burger. πŸ™‚

Nighttime Snack:
4 oz of Vanilla Chobani with a small banana and another serving of homemade honey cinnamon peanut butter on top! Such a delicious way to satisfy your sweet tooth without undoing your day! Love love love. πŸ™‚

I hope everyone liked my first WIAW post! It was super fun to do and I will probably make this a regular thing on this blog. πŸ™‚ It’s always fun to see everything a healthy blogger eats from time to time, right?
